Guarding The Faith

God wants all man to come to him any time anywhere. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family. Faith is the source of light and guarding the faith is the Mission of the Catholic Church.

Catechism of the Catholic Church is described as the book that explains the beliefs of Christian religion through questions and answers. It is therefore formulated to provide better understanding and knowledge to the followers of the religion.Quite early on, the name catechesis was given to the totality of the Church’s efforts to make disciples, to help men believe that Jesus is the Son of God so that believing they might have life in his name, and to educate and instruct them in this life, thus building up the body of Christ

 Essence

The book of the catechist purposed is  to assist the teachers who explain faith known as bishops and church ministers known as pastors, in short who have the responsibility to catechize. This fact particularly highlights the significance of the holiness of this book. It is a comprehensive and precise explanation of Catholic doctrine therefore it is not suggested to be used directly by progenies and young audience however JP II quoted that the book ‘is presented to all the faithful who want to comprehend well the infinite resources of redemption.’

Since Catholic Church Catechism is universal, in order for it to reach young and old, texts are made used that are molded together from variety of sources under the guidance of a teacher, catechist or parent. By this way it is also made available to the younger followers of the Catholic religion however it is not directly intended for them.

Catechist is beneficial for the faithful and solely intended for them. It helps the faithful to enhance their fundamental beliefs into something more understandable. The catechism offers what Catholics all around the world trust and have in common. It offers these truths in a facilitative way resulting in better comprehensiveness. Catehesis was meant by the church’s efforts to make disciples, to help men believe that Jesus is the Son of God so that believing they might have life in his name, and to educate and instruct them in this life, thus building up the body of Christ
Catechetical directories, such as The National Directory of Catechesis and The General Directory of Catechesis , shed more light on procedure, and native catechisms, for example the US Catholic Catechism for Adults, consists of procedures imitating the native public and ethnic framework. Thus along with the directories and The Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Catholic doctrine within the Church’s history and tradition can be presented to the followers of Christianity.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church encompasses the dilemma of what we should do as human beings, pertaining to how we should live our lives so that peace can be ensured within us and the world, which is one of the biggest problem for ourselves and for all our ages. What can be done? How can we achieve equality in life? What contribution can we give to us and the world for a future worth living? Questions like these are well dealt in the Catechism which therefore interests many people, far beyond purely religious or intended audience.
